In 1965, Bob Dylan returned to perform at the Newport Folk Festival. But this time, his sound was quite different. No longer was it just him with an acoustic guitar, but rather he performed with an electric guitar and a full backing band. Plenty of controversy surrounds the event as Dylan was met with boo’s from the audience. One cannot say whether it was due to him breaking out of standard folk music angering the purists or if the sound mixing was bad. Either way, it made for a hell of a performance as you can see in this clip of him playing ‘Maggie’s Farm’. The incredible blues guitar comes from the legendary Mike Bloomfield.
